How to edit PDF files Using Acrobat

    3. Click the text or image you wish to edit. Acrobat shows you the tools you’ll need.

    4. Add or edit text on the page. Lines and paragraphs reflow automatically, or you can click and drag to resize elements.

    5. Add, replace, move, or resize images on the page using selections from the Objects list.

    6. Click on the Link, Headers and Footers, Watermark, or Background tool to edit your PDF further.

How to edit PDF files Using LibreOffice/OpenOffice

LibreOffice/OpenOffice is quite a powerful office suite which you can get for free. While it doesn’t match Microsoft Office’s features 100%, it does include a few of its own. With the free suite, you can edit any document you wish and then export it to PDF.

The only way you can do the same thing directly with the Microsoft Office package is if you have Adobe’s paid tool installed, which will place a plugin into Office. Or alternatively, if you have Office 2007 or Office 2010 already pre-installed on your system, you can save files as PDF’s there as well.
    1. If you don't already have OpenOffice installed on your computer. Download and install OpenOffice. This is a complete suite of free productivity software that includes OpenOffice Draw.

    2. After installing OpenOffice, run the PDF Import Extension.

    3. Next, open the program OpenOffice Draw.

    4. Once open, navigate to the PDF you want to edit and open it.

    5. After the PDF has been open, edit any text field by double-click it. If you want to add new text, click the Text link at the bottom of the window, and then click where you want to add text.

    6. Finally, after you have finished editing the file click the PDF link to export the file as a PDF.

Although this is a fantastic free solution for editing a PDF, the PDF Import Extension does have some limitations. It does not currently support PDF forms, table conversions, or the decrypting of protected files. If you are running Microsoft Windows, many of these limitations can be avoided by also using PDFill.

How to edit PDF files Using PDFill

    1. Download and install PDFill.

    2. Open the PDFill PDF Editor if you want to edit a PDF or the PDFill PDF Tools if you want to encrypt, decrypt, merge, add headers, or perform other quick tasks.

    3. If you are editing a file, after PDFill PDF Editor is open, click File, select Open New PDF Project, and browse to the PDF you want to edit.

Speaking of online tools, why even use a converter when you could also create PDFs entirely online without ever needing Office or LibreOffice? You can use tools such as PDFescape to do just that.

The service only requires that you use a supported browser (which you are more than likely already using at this very moment). You do not even have to be registered to use it, although registering does offer a couple of benefits, the main benefit being the ability to save PDFs to your online account. Registration, of course, is also free.

Finally, if you edit PDF files daily and the above solutions are not sufficient for you there are also plenty of commercial PDF editors. Unfortunately, many of these programs can cost several hundred dollars but they will assure you the unmatchable quality and user friendly interface for editing the documents.
